Sean Rigg believes Port Vale must win all of their four remaining games to have a realistic chance of reaching the League Two play-offs in May.
Vale have won one of their last nine matches and are three points off the top seven after a 0-0 draw at promotion-chasing Torquay on Saturday.
"It's going to be tough but I think we can do it," Rigg told BBC Radio Stoke.
"A three-point gap seems like nothing but we've got to go into every game going for three points now."
He continued: "When we work hard and put in a good performance we can do well against any team.
"We've been working on pressing the ball, short and sharp stuff and getting tight to your man and that's what we do best."
Vale caretaker manager Mark Grew added: "There's 12 points still to play for, so if you think the season's finished then think again.
"We put a shift in last week and we'll do the same this week so we haven't given up yet."
