Kneen finished runner-up in this year's British Supersport Cup |
Manx rider Dan Kneen will start from 21st on the grid when he makes his Macau Grand Prix debut on Saturday. The 23-year-old finished 9.904 seconds behind the six-time champion Michael Rutter, who will start from pole. Rutter used all his experience of the 6.2km Guia circuit to take pole by just one 10th of a second from Scottish rider Stuart Easton. Both competitors were well inside Easton's existing qualifying lap record which he set last year. Easton will be going for a third consecutive title in Saturday's 44th running of the event. Rutter will be equally determined to add to his six titles and halt his younger rivals ambitions. Fifteen-time TT winner John McGuinness was third fastest but over two seconds slower than Rutter and Easton. TT riders Jeremy Toye, Gary Johnson, James Hillier, Keith Amor and Luis Carreira all qualified in the top 10 for Saturday's 15-lap race. To view full results, click here .
