 Morris helped Castletown to the Premiership title |
Gareth Morris was named the player of the year at the Isle of Man Cricket Awards, after a fine season with both club and country. The Castletown batsmen scored 1,058 runs at an average of 66, including four centuries during the 2010 season. Castletown's Travis Friend won the best all rounder, Wicus Wessels the best wicketkeeper and Seb Aycock was voted the top Under-21 bowler. Akkie van der Berg of St Johns was named the best bowler. Cronkbourne's Ryan Burns was named best fielder and the club's youth policy is paying off as Max Stokoe was named the best Under-21 player, Matty Ansell the top Under-15 performer and Andrew Vels won the Under-13 award. Bruce Wagstaff of Union Mills was named the Forrester One player of the year and Abdul Khan of Valkyres won the Forrester Two award. The two Millennium Trophies were won by Colin Jones of St Johns and Gareth Rowlands from Crosby. ICC Regional Development Officer, Chris Porter presented the European Under 17 Division Two Trophy to Island skipper Dan Hawke to close the evening. Guest of Honour at the dinner was Lancashire's Steve O'Shaughnessy.
