Cooper led all four races on his Formula 125 Aprilia |
Manx teenager Callan Cooper stormed to two resounding wins in the latest round of the Aprilia Superteens Championship at Mallory Park on Sunday. The 14-year-old had led all four races but had to retire from two with mechanical and electrical problems. As well as the two victories the youngster smashed the Superteen lap record on two occasions. Chrissy Rouse won the other two races to extend his overall lead to 67 points with Cooper sitting sixth. The most notable former winner of the Aprilia Series is Casey Stoner. Superteens Series promoter and former TT rider Ian Newton says it is an extremely talented group of riders this year who have the potential to follow in Stoner's footsteps. "We've had several riders emerge from this series and ride at world level," said Newton. "In this year's group I can think of at least five of the competitors that could follow Casey to world level providing the funding is in place, no question about that, 2010 has seen races of epic proportions." The series will conclude in two weeks at Donington Park.
