Kevin Loundes convincingly won the first round of the Manx Gas Cross Country League at the new course at Ballanette on Sunday.

Loundes finished one and a half minutes ahead of Simon Skillicorn and third-placed Andy Barron after completing the 8km course in 24 minutes 31 seconds.

Jackie Lee won the ladies race ahead of Gail Griffiths and Rachael Tewkesbury.

The second round of the five race series will be held at Crossags on the 21 November.

Meanwhile, Rachael Franklin won the junior women's race.

In the junior races, Ollie Lockley and Sarah Astin won the U17s.

Jak Morris and Sosanna Cox the U15s, William Morris and Katie Astin the U13s and David Mullarkey and Laura Dickinson the U11s.

Dave Mackay won the Vererans race.
