Louis' Witches finished bottom of the Elite League |
Ipswich boss Chris Louis says he would prefer to meet Sheffield over Newcastle in the Witches' relegation play-off. Ipswich will take on either the Tigers or the Diamonds for a place in the Elite League after finishing bottom of the top flight. Louis told BBC Radio Suffolk: "I like the idea of going to Sheffield, it's a track I used to like myself. "It's quite a scary track so I'd like to see the lads line up and have a go around Sheffield." Newcastle travel to Sheffield in the first leg of the Premier League promotion play-off on Thursday, with the return leg taking place on Sunday. "I think as a team we will find it quite tough but Newcastle and Sheffield are very different tracks," added Louis. | It will be tough because they'll be looking forward to facing Elite League competition Ipswich Witches boss Chris Louis |
"Newcastle have a very interesting line-up, with Rene Bach in there, he's a top rider. "I'd like to think we should win comfortably at Foxhall but a lot is going to depend on what happens when we go to their place. "It will be a new track to virtually all of our riders. It will be tough because they'll be looking forward to facing Elite League competition." Ipswich will host the home leg of the relegation play-off on 28 October. If Newcastle are the opponents then the away leg will be on 24 October while a trip to Sheffield would be on 21 October. The Witches are in action Thursday when they face an American touring team at Foxhall.
