Owner Gary Patchett targets Birmingham Brummies Cup win
Patchett is leasing the Brummies this season from owner Tony Mole
Birmingham Brummies' temporary owner Gary Patchett believes the club can end the season on a high in both league and cup competitions.
Newcastle come to Perry Barr on Wednesday night for the first leg of the Knockout Cup semi-final, returning in the play-offs a week later.
"We've got Newcastle four times in the next fortnight - that's sometimes the way it goes," Patchett told BBC WM.
"The cream rises to the top and you just keep coming up against them."
The Brummies are buoyed by the news that American star Chris Kerr is fit to return after missing four months with a broken leg.
"Unfortunately injuries are part and parcel of the sport, it's no a case of if you get injured, but when you get injured as a speedway rider," Patchett noted.
"We didn't cope very well with the injury to Chris Kerr, but he's back in the team and it'll be the first time we've had a full-strength team since May."
It was with that first-choice line-up that the Brummies recorded their only win over Newcastle in four attempts this year, winning 60-32 at Perry Barr.
The visitors are missing Jason King for their trip to the West Midlands and will be operating the rider-replacement facility.
