Dunlop was a comfortable winner in the Post Classic Senior |
Michael Dunlop and Chris Palmer set new lap and race records on their way to respective victories at the Manx Grand Prix on Monday. Riding a 1981 Suzuki, Dunlop won the Post Classic Senior by a massive two and a half minutes from Scottish rider Mark Buckley. The Ballymoney rider said: "The bike was faultless, I felt like I could have gone 121 or 122mph." Bedfordshire rider Ollie Linsdell crashed out while lying second. Meanwhile, Chris Palmer set a race record on his way to victory in the Post Classic Junior. Palmer led the race from start to finish on the 1962 AJS to finish in a record one hour 23 minutes 4.94 seconds. The Castletown rider said: "I didn't want to do anything silly on the last lap so I just rolled it off and came home." Philip McGurk finished two and a half minutes down in second place, with Barry Davidson third. Meanwhile, Roy Richardson claimed his seventh MPG title in the Junior Classic. The Blackpool rider set lap and race records for the class on a 1969 Aermacchi Ala D'Oro. Peter Wakefield took the chequered flag in the Lightweight Classic on a 1966 T20 Suzuki. Tom Jackson, 61, had a 50-second lead at the Bungalow on the final lap before dramatically running out of petrol.
