Manx riders Tim Venables and Jonny Heginbotham took the honours in both the Newcomers A and B races at the Manx Grand Prix on Monday.

Venables set a Newcomers lap record on his opening lap and held on to his advantage to win by over 10 seconds from Banbridge's Shaun Anderson.

The 22-year-old said: "I'm still learning the course but it is amazing to win on the Mountain Course."

Meanwhile, Heginbotham took victory in the Newcomer B race.

Heginbotham set a new race record of one hour 24 minutes 15.40 seconds on his way to a commanding one minute 10 second victory over Lee Darbyshire.

The Port St Mary rider also set a new lap record of 109.073mph on his opening lap.

The 23-year-old told BBC Isle of Man: "I knew I needed a good start, so I got my head down right from the off.

"I'm made up with the result and I want to build on it in the Junior."
