Manx riders Tim Venables and Jonny Heginbotham took the honours in both the Newcomers A and B races at the Manx Grand Prix on Monday. Venables set a Newcomers lap record on his opening lap and held on to his advantage to win by over 10 seconds from Banbridge's Shaun Anderson. The 22-year-old said: "I'm still learning the course but it is amazing to win on the Mountain Course." Meanwhile, Heginbotham took victory in the Newcomer B race. Heginbotham set a new race record of one hour 24 minutes 15.40 seconds on his way to a commanding one minute 10 second victory over Lee Darbyshire. The Port St Mary rider also set a new lap record of 109.073mph on his opening lap. The 23-year-old told BBC Isle of Man: "I knew I needed a good start, so I got my head down right from the off. "I'm made up with the result and I want to build on it in the Junior." Both riders will compete in Wednesday's Junior race.
