King's Lynn Stars, who have two riders struggling with illness, have cancelled Wednesday's meeting with Redcar due to wet weather.

Chris Mills was set to feature but Casper Wortman and Darren Mallett were unlikely to return after Sunday's defeat by Newport.

Team boss Rob Lyon was also preparing to be back after being in World Cup action with the Great Britain team.

The Stars were disappointing in his absence, losing both meetings.

A Knock Out Cup first-leg defeat to Edinburgh was followed by a Premier League loss at Newport.

However stand-in manager Dale Allitt was keen to praise the improvement of Czech rider Tomas Topinka, who scored paid-14 against the Wasps.

"Everybody knows what Tom's about, he's a legend at the club," said Allitt.

"He had a knock at the end of last year and then broke his leg at Rye House but to me he was back to his best on Sunday.

"It's really good news for the club that he's back to his very best."
