Harvey has only failed to finish on the podium in one race this season

Lincolnshire racing driver Jack Harvey has strengthened his grip at the top of the Formula BMW Europe Series.

The 17-year-old won the first and finished third in the latest two races at Silverstone at the weekend.

He won after starting from second in the grid and then started and finished third to go 35 points clear at the top.

He said: "I came here with the intention to go for victory again and to extend the lead in the championship and that is exactly what we achieved."

He added: "To win in front of the British Grand Prix fans at your home event is just amazing.

"It was a special feeling to stand on the top step of the podium, in front of the crowd.

"It just felt that little bit better than the other wins, because it was my home race and the one that I really wanted to do well in."

The formula BMW Series resumes in a fortnight at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim.
