Ronnie Russell took over from Alun Rossiter as Swindon manager |
Swindon begin their Knockout Cup campaign against Peterborough on Thursday and manager Ronnie Russell hopes his team end back-to-back losses. The Robins boss has called for more focus after watching them throw away leads in successive away defeats. He believes being back at home will help build a big first leg lead. "I'm fairly confident that at home we are as dialled in as we are possibly going to be now. I don't see any great dramas," he told BBC Wiltshire. "I just hope that we do start properly, we do carry on and we don't have this lull in the middle (of the meeting). We tend not to get that at home. | I believe we can do it and if we're all on form then we can beat them Swindon Robins rider Morten Risager |
"Thursday will be another tough encounter and one the boys will be prepared for. "A solid win would help us gather some positive momentum and I'm confident we can perform to our potential." Compared to the 2009 campaign when they finished the regular season at the top of the Elite League before losing in the play-offs, the Wiltshire club have not found this term so successful. Danish rider Morten Risager knows they need to find good form again but hopes a home meeting is what they need. "I believe we can do it and if we're all on form then we can beat them," he said. Peterborough boast in-form Danish star Kenneth Bjerre though former Robins' rider Troy Batchelor misses out as he is preparing for Saturday's World Championship qualifying round in Hungary. The overall winners will progress to the semi-finals.
