World champion Jason Crump is among the line-up to compete in Ipswich on Thursday, 29 April in a memorial meeting for former rider Billy Sanders. The England versus Australia pairs event is being staged to mark the 25th anniversary of the Australian's death. Sanders, who rode for Ipswich Witches in the 1970s and 1980s, was 29 when he committed suicide in 1985. Many of his former team-mates, including 1980 world champion Michael Lee, are expected to attend. Witches promoter John Louis, who rode with Sanders in the 1970s, told BBC Radio Suffolk: "Billy was a great character. "I met him on the day he arrived from Australia and I remember watching his first race, which I believe he won, and he looked terrific. "From then on he became one of the stars of Foxhall Stadium."
