Rossiter expects Jonasson to rise to the challenge of the Elite League
Swindon Robins have made their first new signing for next season, Swedish rider Thomas Jonasson.
The highly-rated 21-year-old joins from Premier League outfit Edinburgh Monarchs as a reserve.
"He's a little terrier and not afraid to mix it," Robins team manager Alun Rossiter told BBC Wiltshire.
"I know Tomas is high on a lot of people's radars and I already had one promoter come up to me and say what a great signing he is."
Rossiter and Robins co-owner Gary Patchett flew to Sweden in the week to seal the deal with Jonasson.
"We sat down with him Tuesday night and he was really looking forward to coming to Swindon. His attitude was absolutely spot on," he added.
With Cory Gathercole as the other reserve in the team, Swindon have just two confirmed names ahead of the 2010 season.
But the Swindon are confident of re-signing captain and star rider Leigh Adams for the 2010 season very soon and Rossiter says they are looking for a balanced team.
"You've got to look at riders that are going to bolster the middle, he said.
"There are going to be lots of teams with good riders at the top but look vulnerable in the middle and that's where hopefully we can pick up on that."
Swindon are hoping to announce more signings in the next couple of weeks, one of which is expected to be young Polish rider Greg Zengota.
"He's coming over to Swindon in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we'll have him signed up by then, said Rossiter.
"We've got an idea what we want [for the team], we just want to make sure it all goes to plan."
