Somerset Rebels' speedway team missed out on the Premier League promotion play-offs finishing in sixth place. They now challenge for the Young Shield competition for teams that finish between fifth and 12th. The Rebels have chosen Stoke Potters as their opposition in the first round, staging their home leg of the tie on Friday 2 October. King's Lynn are crowned champions with Edinburgh, Newcastle and Birmingham filling the remaining play-off spots.
