Rob Lyon's Stars team lead their rivals by eight points |
King's Lynn Stars are favourites to lift speedway's Premier League title after a 60-34 win over the Workington Comets at the Norfolk Arena. The win leaves them eight points ahead of their nearest rivals Birmingham with both teams having three matches left. If Birmingham lose on Wednesday night, King's Lynn will be crowned champions. The last time King's Lynn finished top of the table was in 2006, when the team also won the Premier Trophy and the Premier League Knock Out Cup. The Stars have an away match against Workington on Saturday and another away match at Newcastle on Sunday. If the title is not wrapped up by the end of the weekend, it could come down to a decider against rivals Birmingham at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday. Stars' Team Manager Rob Lyon told BBC Radio Norfolk that his team is focussed on what they have to do. "They all know what we need to do now. We're looking to try and seal it Saturday and if we don't then we'll try and get something out of Sunday," he said.
