Rob Lyon's Stars are in contention for three trophies |
King's Lynn Stars overcame engine problems to beat Somerset Rebels 59-33 at the Norfolk Arena. Darcy Ward, Linus Eklof and Chris Schramm suffered engine failures while Emiliano Sanchez was disqualified in one race for nudging the tapes. But the Stars came back strongly in the second half of the meeting with guest rider Simon Lambert top scoring. The win leaves Lynn top of the table, three points clear of nearest rivals Birmingham with three matches in hand. The Stars now face a series of fixtures which could have a big influence on their title hopes, beginning with a trip to Birmingham on Sunday. They then travel to Scunthorpe on Monday before a return clash with the Brummies at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday. Stars team manager Rob Lyon said: "Birmingham are going well at the moment but they'll know their hardest test is coming on Sunday." As well as chasing the Premier League title Lynn are through to the Premier Trophy final and semi-finals of the Knockout Cup.
