Zagar's performance earned him the man-of-the-match award |
Swindon are four points clear at the top of the Elite League table after beating Eastbourne 51-41 at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday. The Robins made hard work of picking up maximum points, but Matej Zagar and Leigh Adams won the final race to secure the victory. Zagar told BBC Wiltshire he loves riding with the Australian GP star. "Leigh is a great captain and we work together perfectly, but all the team is working well," the Slovenian said. Zagar had to win many of his races from the back, having been a slow starter throughout the meeting, something he enjoyed. "When you're behind and actually pass people, it's a good night." Swindon have four meetings remaining this season, including home and away ties against second placed Wolverhampton.
Swindon - Leigh Adams 12+2, Jurica Pavlic 4+1, Travis McGowan 3+1, Simon Stead 10, Matej Zagar 14+1, Paul Hurry 1, Mark Lemon 7+1 Eastbourne - Lewis Bridger 3+2, Simon Gustafsson 9, Davey Watt 14, Cameron Woodward 4+2, Chris Schramm 2, Daniel Nermark 9+1
