Karlsson better for year's break

Peter Karlsson
Karlsson is proving to be the perfect mentor for a young Wolves line-up

Wolverhampton captain Peter Karlsson has said that the club are reaping the benefits of the year's sabbatical he took from riding in the Elite League.

The Swede, 39, returned to Monmore Green this spring and has helped the team rise towards the top of the table.

"I'm enjoying every minute of it, even though it means I'm a lot busier than last season," said Karlsson.

"I enjoyed taking it a bit easier, and it set me up nicely to come back. We've got a great spirit here."

The experience of Karlsson and Polish rider Adam Scornicki has proved to be the perfect foil for up-and-coming Wolves stars Freddie Lindgren, Nicolai Klindt and Tai Woffinden.

After more than a week's break due to World Cup action, Wolves return to Monmore on Monday night to host local rivals Coventry.
