Plymouth Devils narrowly lost 48-42 to Newport on Sunday, but did enough to claim an away point from the meeting.

The Devils were on level terms with Newport after six heats, but the hosts surged ahead and took an eight-point lead going into the final three races.

Plymouth did not do enough to come back and win, but they secured a point thanks to a heat win from Mark Simmonds in the final race of the meeting.

Simmonds had an excellent afternoon, scoring 17 points from six rides.
