Isle of Man-based rider Andrew Pitt finished sixth in round six of the World Supersport Championships at Kyalami in South Africa on Sunday.

Pitt started strongly and was as high as second before suffering problems with grip.

Pitt said: "I had so little grip out there, it was like riding on ice."

Ireland's Eugene Laverty stormed to his third win of the year with Cal Crutchlow of England second and Australian Mark Aitchison third.

Laverty's win sees him close the gap on overall leader Crutchlow to 13 points.

Pitt is currently in fourth place just behind Turkish Ten Kate Honda team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu.

Round seven will be held at the Miller Motorsport Park, in the United States, on 31 May
