Isle of Man-based rider Andrew Pitt finished fifth in round five of the World Supersport Championships at Monza in Italy on Sunday. Starting from seventh, Pitt was in contention in the early stages before slipping back to fifth. The 30-year-old rider said: "We're definitely going in the right direction with the new bike. "We still need to work on the rear settings to get a better result next week in Kyalami (South Africa)." Championship leader Cal Crutchlow took the chequered flag from Spaniard Joan Lascorz with Frace's Fabien Foret completing the podium. Crutchlow leads the overall standings by 18 points from Eugene Laverty.
