Isle of Man-based rider Andrew Pitt crashed out of the fourth round of the World Supersport Championships in Assen, Holland on Sunday.

Pitt was having an excellent race and battling for a podium position when he came to grief.

The 33-year-old said: "When the Yamahas tangled in front of me and ran wide, I dived underneath - maybe a little too enthusiastically - and lost the front."

Worse was to follow when Cal Crutchlow then appeared to run over his arm.

"I don't know who ran over my arm, but I lost all feeling in it temporarily and couldn't pick up the bike. There's nothing broken but it'll probably be a little sore tomorrow," added the Ten Kate rider.

The race was won by Honda rider, Eugene Laverty with Crutchlow second and Joan Lascorz in third.

Pitt's Turkish team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu made a great start and led in the early laps before dropping back to finish fifth.
