Peel battle St George's for title

Football

Peel will battle with St George's for the Sure Mobile Premier League title following Wednesday night's results.

Peel's 5-1 win at Corinthians gave them a four-point cushion over both Old Boys and Rushen with just one league game left to play.

But St George's are still in contention after their 6-0 win against Colby at Glen Road.

Despite sitting in fourth position theGeordies are just five points behind Peel with two games in hand.

Rushen's 3-2 win at Blackberry Lane was not enough to keep them in the title race but it did move the Railway Cup Champions into second place.

Meanwhile Ayre United were relegated after going down 3-2 at home to Michael.

In CFS Division Two promoted sides Castletown and St John's both won.

The southern outfit currently top the table on goal difference but have now completed their fixtures meaning if St John's win or draw their last game, at home to Braddan, they will take the Division Two crown.
