Mervyn Whyte says organisers have talked to Australian Allerton

Australian Superbike champion Glen Allerton is in talks with North West 200 organisers about making his debut at the international road race in May.

Allerton competed against a number of Irish riders at last year's Kings of Wanneroo short circuit meeting in Perth, winning the main feature race.

"We have had some initial discussions with Glen and he seems keen to ride," said clerk-of-the-course Mervyn Whyte.

"Nothing has been firmed up yet but we will be trying to tie up a deal."
