Huff is currently seventh in the drivers' standings |
A late puncture cost Cambridgeshire-based World Touring Car star Rob Huff victory in race one of the weekend's meeting at Brands Hatch. The Chevrolet driver qualified third but took the lead on lap one and looked all set to win before the late drama. With two laps remaining he was forced into the pits with a burst front tyre. Huff told the Chevrolet website: "I had a good start and led comfortably, then two laps from the end the tyre went bang and that was it." The incident compromised Huff's entire weekend by forcing him to the back of the grid for race two, and despite a spirited drive he could only manage a 10th-placed finish. | 606: DEBATE | Championship leader Yvan Muller, who claimed second place in race one, is now 29 points ahead of Huff, who slipped from fifth to seventh in the drivers' standings. Huff carried almost 50kg of success ballast into Brands, making his qualifying performance all the more remarkable. And his disappointing results at Brands Hatch left him trying to look on the bright side ahead of next month's trip to Germany. "The good thing is that I'll lose 10kg for Oschersleben, so I'll make sure to use that to my advantage to get suitable revenge in a months time," he said.
