Huff has taken 27 points from his last four WTCC races |
Cambridgeshire-based World Touring Car star Rob Huff moved up to sixth place in the drivers' championship after another successful weekend in France. Huff finished fourth and fifth on the narrow streets of Pau, despite carrying 48kg of success ballast. He claimed fourth in race one with a well-timed pass on Gabriele Tarquini. "He was locking up and breaking early for turn two, so on the last lap I just went for it," Huff told Chevrolet's official website. Huff based his race strategy on qualifying well and holding his position in race one, and despite the distraction of a re-start, the plan worked to perfection. "Like [team-mate] Nicola Larini, I made up a place at the first start; after the restart all I had to do was keep pushing Gabriele," he said. | 606: DEBATE |
Passing Tarquini in race one left Huff fifth on the reverse grid for race two, which was run in a downpour. "The second race was just a case of keeping the car on the black stuff and not making any mistakes," he said. Huff remains 18 points behind Tarquini, the championship leader, despite taking nine points from Pau. The WTCC next resumes in the Czech Republic on the weekend of 14 June.
