Huff targets podium spot in Spain

Rob Huff and his Chevrolet car
Huff is yet to pick up a point in this year's championship

Cambridgeshire driver Rob Huff is hoping to pick up his first points of the World Touring Cars season at rounds five and six in Valencia.

The Chevrolet driver failed to make the top eight in any of the first four rounds in Brazil and Mexico.

But Huff hopes new engine restrictions applied to rivals Seat will increase his chances in Spain.

"They've had great success winning the first four rounds but it's about time they got penalised," he said.

Huff insists the normal ballast added to winning cars was not affecting the diesel cars of the Seat team.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The weight that they are carrying for the success, with the diesel doesn't suffer as much as the petrol cars do.

There's no reason why we shouldn't be winning both the races this weekend between the three of us

"We've got to capitalise on [Seat's engine restrictions] as much as possible and capitalise on the fact we're running with no extra weight at all and go out in Valencia, do the business, and come away with as many points as possible."

Huff said his own Chevrolet car had been improved ahead of this weekend.

"We've got some new parts on the car this weekend which have improved the pace of it slightly," he added.

"The guys are Chevrolet are working hard to get the pace out of the Lacetti in what is its last year."

With Chevrolet third in the manufacturer's table Huff expects himself and his team mates, Nicolas Larini and Alain Menu, to make in-roads into their rivals' leads at Valencia.

"Our car this year is definitely much better, it's much faster, it's more consistent and more reliable as well, he continued.

"With all that taken into account, there's no reason why we shouldn't be winning both the races this weekend between the three of us."
