Millions watch fantasy final
Goran is congratualted by Pat Rafter
The Centre court crowd created a unique atmosphere
Hailed as the most thrilling final ever, a staggering 74.8% of the television viewing audience tuned in to see Goran Ivanisevic's epic Wimbledon win over Pat Rafter.

Despite bad weather forcing the Men's Final into a third week, an incredible 6.6 million viewers watched Ivanisevic fulfil his lifelong dream of becoming Wimbledon champion.

An average of 4.3 million people, 56% share of the viewing audience, watched the whole of the incredible five-set thriller in front of a passionate Centre court crowd.

The biggest audience of the Championship was drawn on Saturday 7 July when 'Henmania' gripped the nation.

Henman's semi-final against Ivanisevic peaked at nearly 12 million viewers with an average share of 59% of viewers.

Venus Williams
Venus Williams clinched the Women's title for the second year

Venus Williams' victory over Justine Henin in the Ladies Final on Sunday 9 July, matched last year's peak audience of 7.5 million.

Over the course of the Championships the average audience watching live coverage of Wimbledon increased by 25% on last year with some 200 hours of live coverage being broadcast.

BBC Wimbledon Interactive had an enormously successful debut as the first truly interactive service.

Digital satellite viewers were offered the opportunity to choose what they watched from a selection of five matches.

On the very first day of the Championships, one million digital satellite viewers accessed the service, a figure which was maintained throughout the tournament.

BBC Sport Online's dedicated Wimbledon website doubled it's number of page impressions on last year, recording an enormous 16,276,280 impressions over the course of the Championships.
