Woods faces D-day test
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods' path will be lined by huge galleries
The final round of the US Masters will pit the best two players in the world head-to-head.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, numbers one and two in the world respectively, are paired as the last group for the fourth round at Augusta.

Mickleson's par-birdie-birdie finish saw him usurp Chris DiMarco in second place and earn the reward of playing with Woods.

And the left-hander will be hoping that history, of sorts, will repeat itself.

When Woods was bearing down on Byron Nelson's record 11 consecutive Tour victories it was Mickelson who stopped him in his tracks at six victories.

Mickelson is yet to win a Major
The leading pair will start their fourth round at 1955 BST.

DiMarco has been paired with Mark Calcavecchia and they join the action at 1945 BST.

And hot on the heels of the two American pairs are Ernie Els and David Duval who tee off at 1935 BST.

Two-time winner, Jose Maria Olazabal of Spain, the leading European, partners Lee Janzen at 1905 BST.

And Britain's leading hope, Darren Clarke, will set out on his final round at 1835 BST accompanied by Japan's Toshi Izawa.

However all the attention will be on the final pairing.

Mickelson will be attempting to win a long overdue first Major.

But Woods, who is attempting to win his fourth successive Major, was keen to play down the his being partnered with Mickelson.

"You can't go out and think it's just Phil and myself," the 25-year-old said.

"If you look at that board there's some guys who've won some serious tournaments around the world."

But he also had an ominous warning for those players who may fancy their chances of upsetting the odds on the final day.

"I'm just going to go out there with the intent of trying to keep the ball in play and put it on the green - I'm in a competing mood," Woods added.
