| Lions second Test player ratings The Lions were battered in the second-half BBC Sport Online's Jonathon Moore awards the Lions players marks out of 10 after Australia levelled the series in Melbourne. 15 - Matt Perry The Bath full back started poorly, missing numerous line-kicks and failed to impose himself on the game thereafter. 14 - Dafydd James Despite an early break, James came off a poor second against Joe Roff. He leaked two tries down the right flank and frequently knocked on in contact. 13 - Rob Henderson After a superb performance in the first Test the Irish centre looked out-of-sorts in Melbourne. Did little with the ball in hand and failed to break down an impressive Australian defensive line. 12 - Brian O'Driscoll Showed his class again - but only in glimpses. Broke the Wallaby defence twice, but his teammates were unable to provide him with enough clean ball to allow him to truly shine. 11 - Jason Robinson A vital cog in the opening Test, the ex-rugby league flyer touched the ball only a handful of times and was unable to show his blistering pace. Put in some big tackles and did little wrong going backwards. 10 - Jonny Wilkinson A tale of two halves for the England fly-half. Wilkinson bossed the first period superbly, but his intercepted pass changed the game. Left the field early with a damaged knee. 9 - Rob Howley 8 - Scott Quinnell Awseome in the first-half, Quinnell's rampant charges put Australia on the back-foot. Frequently guilty of running out of support in the second-half he was lucky to stay on the field after two late tackles. 7 - Neil Back 6 - Richard Hill 5 - Danny Grewcock A quiet game after an outstanding first Test. Was harried in the line-out and looked shaky against the imposing figures of David Giffin and John Eales. 4 - Martin Johnson Won a number of key line-out balls, but lacked the support he needed from his second-row partner. Made some fine runs with ball in hand, but lost his composure late on. 3 - Phil Vickery Struggled to impose himself in the scrums against an impressive Australian front-row and was unable to make his mark with his trademark charges in midfield. 2 - Keith Wood A reasonable performance from the Irish captain, despite a shaky line-out. His charging runs continued to ask questions of Australia and he again provided a superb link. 1 - Tom Smith Made some big tackles but failed to gain any superiority over his opponents. Failed to assert himself in the second-half. Replacements: Iain Balshaw (52, Matt Perry) Martin Corry (40 Richard Hill) Jason Leonard (66, Phil Vickery) Matt Dawson (80, Robert Howley) |
