Jones says the Americans have great team bonding |
American Solheim Cup player Rosie Jones has hit back angrily at claims by Britain's Laura Davies that Europe have a better team spirit. "I don't know what Laura is talking about. She doesn't know what goes on in our team room," fumed Jones.
"But it's fine if she thinks like that. We've tremendous bonding in our team."
Holders Europe, who are seeking their first win in the event on American soil, begin their defence on Friday at Crooked Stick, Carmel, Indiana.
Davies told the BBC Sport website: "I'm sure the Americans will say they have great team spirit but I don't think it will be as good as ours.
"Whether they will have as much fun as we have, I'd very much doubt that. "It's the European way; American sport is more individual."
Europe captain Catrin Nilsmark believes the profile of women's golf would be given a major boost if they could retain the trophy.
"It would be wonderful for the girls and the Ladies' European Tour," said the Swede.
Europe's chances of victory are boosted by the presence of world number one Annika Sorenstam.
"All the girls look up to her, but she also gives great feedback," said Nilsmark. "She admits that she gets nervous just like everyone else, especially in the Solheim."
