| Saturday, 5 October, 2002, 02:58 GMT 03:58 UK Kerr leads Sorenstam ![]() Cristie Kerr hit three bogeys but still set a new record The course record was set for the second time in two days at the Samsung World Championship as Cristie Kerr hit a stunning eight under par round of 64 to take the lead. But Swedish superstar Annika Sorenstam remains in contention, just one shot off the lead after two rounds. Searching for her second win of the season, Kerr managed a 64 in an eventful round that included two eagles, seven birdies and three bogeys at Hiddenbrooke Golf Club. "It's tough to shoot a course record with three bogeys," said Kerr. Sorenstam, who made seven birdies, said she was happy with her form. "I'm playing well and I'm very happy," she said. "Today was a little bit of an up-and-down day for me. It seemed like things really weren't going that well, but I ended up with a good score anyway, so I'm happy." Sorenstam has eight LPGA Tour titles this year, meaning she would have to win each of the remaining six events to set a single-season record. Rosie Jones is third in the 20-player field at 10-under 134, a stroke better than first-round leader Michele Redman, who matched the course record on Thursday with a 65. Redman fared less well on Friday, and was the only golfer in the top 10 to fail to break 70. |
