Watch out, ref!
BBC Sport Online's Chris Charles picks out some of the quirky, offbeat or plain daft stories doing the rounds.

Watch out, ref!

Renowned timekeeper Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been given a space-age stopwatch to help him keep tabs on referees.

I think you'll find I'm right, ref!

The Manchester United boss, who is never slow to tell officials if he thinks they've added too little or too much time, will now have technology on his side.

The 300 kinetic-sensored timepiece was designed by Nasa for astronauts and is said to be accurate to the nearest 100,000th of a second.

You can almost hear the collective groan from Referee HQ.

Rock on, Tommy

An amateur football team have finally discovered the secret to success - Tommy Cooper!

Since Woodland Heath FC began listening to tapes of the legendary comedian last November, they have not been beaten.

And if their opponents in the Hampshire league ask just how they have managed to be so consistent, they can expect a collective answer...

"Just like that!"

Ronal-doh

Ronaldo's transfer to Real Madrid has upset most people outside of the Spanish city - including the player's wife!

Milene Domingues apparently cried for two hours when she found out hubby was leaving Inter Milan - because it meant she would have to leave her own football club.

El's bells - Mrs Ronaldo is not happy

Milene has been one of the star players at Serie A women's team Fiammamonza and coach Raffaele Solimeno admitted he was sorry to see her go.

He claimed she had been "the happiest girl in the world" until Ronaldo secured his move.

She now looks set to join Atletico Madrid after turning down the chance to commute.

All that travelling would prove to be a Real pain.
