Blackpool's Roy Richardson stormed to victory in the opening race of the 2009 Blackford's Pre-TT Classic at the Billown Circuit on Saturday.

Richardson dominated the Singles Classic from start to finish setting both new race and lap records.

Riding Dick Linton's FCL 350 Aermacchi, Richardson finished the six-lap race in a time of 17 mins 30.853 secs to win by 31.5 seconds.

Father and son Bill and Chris Swallow finished second and third.

The duo were side-by-side for the entire race but it was his father Bill who edged it by 0.2 seconds.

Mike Hose pushed the duelling pair all the way and finished less than half a second behind Chris Swallow in fourth.

Quickest of the 250's was Roger Birkenhead on his Ducati, and was being chased hard by previous winner, 81-year-old Ted Fenwick.
