Quality field for 2009 Billown TT

Organisers of the 125cc and 250cc Billown TT races say the quality of the field has improved from its conception in 2008.

Billown press officer Phil Edge said: "Last year we had an excellent line-up and 2009 looks set to be even better.

"We're very excited about what should be some memorable racing on the Billown course."

Riders wishing to take part in either the Billown TT or the TTXGP have until 31 March to send in their forms.

In 2008, Manxman Chris Palmer won the 125cc race, with Dromara's Ian Lougher claiming the 250cc title and both riders have confirmed they will be defending their crowns.

However, the successful duo will not be having it all their own way with some of Britain's finest two-stroke competitors taking their places on the grid alongside the duelling veterans.

William and Michael Dunlop are entered in both of the Billown TT races, as is fellow Ulsterman Barry Davidson, whilst Saintfield's Davy Morgan will be aboard a 250 CSC Honda for the quarter-litre class, along with Dungannon's John Burrows on his B E Racing Honda.

Scottish rider, Mark Buckley, who is proving he is no slouch around the 4.25-mile course, also has a brace of Hondas at his disposal.

Blackpool's Roy Richardson will be riding the Jackson Honda 125cc machine in the ultra-lightweight event.

Another Billown regular, Peter Wakefield, will also be on both grids with his PW Racing machines.

Racing will start on the Billown circuit on Saturday, 13 June.
