Manx ladies ready for triangular tournament

The Isle of Man's Ladies Football Team
Isle of Man won bronze at the Island Games in Aland last year

The Isle of Man women's football team will face Jersey and the Isle of Wight over the weekend in the second biennial triangular tournament.

The Manx side will be looking to build on their bronze medal at the 2009 Island Games in Aland.

Manager Keith Lunt said: "The girls want to prove they are the best Island team. We have a strong squad and we are looking forward to Friday's game."

The Manx side will first play the Isle of Wight at the Bowl on Friday evening.

The Isle of Wight will be looking for revenge after suffering two defeats at the hands of the Manx in Aland.

Jersey, who won the tournament two years ago, have beaten the Isle of Man in all of the previous three meetings.

The Channel Islanders will be brimming with confidence following a record-breaking 8-0 thrashing of Guernsey in the Muratti Vase final just over a week ago.

Lunt has named three new faces in his 18 player squad, with Corinthians' Sarah Kerford, Gymnasium's Kim Carney and Castletown's Melanie Cooil will all called up for the first time.
