Everton Ladies boss Marley delighted with final spot

Everton lifted the Premier League Cup after victory over Arsenal in 2008

Everton Ladies manager Mo Marley says getting to the League Cup final is good for her team and the league as a whole.

The Blues reached the final thanks to a 2-1 extra time victory over Arsenal on Sunday, and will face Leeds or Chelsea.

Marley told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I think it's good for the game that there are two new teams in the final itself - it's not just Arsenal and another.

"New players will be on display and it's a good time with the promotion of the new Super League."

She added: "To think we're already in a cup final and it's still early December is magnificent."

The Blues will face either Leeds or Chelsea who contest the other semi-final on Sunday 13 December Sunday, and Marley believes her players have begun to believe in themselves after past defeats against the Gunners.

"We felt we had let ourselves down the last couple of times when we played them," she said.

"Also, everybody is aware of us losing the league on goal difference [to Arsenal] last year. When it came to the crunch games, we let ourselves down.

"They had a bit more experience and know-how in big games. So Sunday was a big test of how disappointed we were last season and how far we have come on.

"It was a big game for us and and we're just delighted we came through it."
