Everton reached the Women's Premier League Cup final with a 2-1 extra time victory over 10-woman Arsenal.
The holders had goalkeeper Emma Byrne sent-off for punching striker Natasha Dowie in the 25th minute.
Despite their numerical advantage it took Everton until 12 minutes from the end of extra time to snatch the winner.
Emily Westwood headed the winner to send Everton to a final against Chelsea or Leeds Carnegie, whose semi-final was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
The Premier League programme was also badly hit by the weather, with Bristol Academy's visit to leaders Sunderland the only game to take place.
The Black Cats took full advantage of the situation, winning 2-1 to stretch their lead at the top of the table to six points.
Women's Premier League Cup semi-final
Everton 2-1 Arsenal a.e.t.
Dowie shot Everton ahead after only three minutes, and when Byrne saw red the scene looked set for a comfortable Toffees victory.
But instead a determined Arsenal hit back and deservedly equalised from Kim Little's 36th minute penalty following a hand-ball by Dowie.
Everton's best spell of the match came in the early stages of the second half, when Dowie was three times denied a second goal by fine defending.
Rachel Yankey then wasted a great chance to give Arsenal a 71st minute lead, shooting straight at goalkeeper Rachel Brown after breaking clear of the defence.
That miss proved costly as Westwood headed home the winner from Jody Handley's 108th minute corner.
Women's Premier League
Sunderland 2-1 Bristol Academy
After impressively beating Arsenal and Chelsea the Black Cats had to work hard against lowly Academy to chalk up a third successive victory.
Sarah Danby put them ahead after only eight minutes, but battling Bristol fought back to equalise through Helen King eight minutes later.
The home side opened the second half as well as they had the first, Sophie Williams heading them back in front just four minutes after the re-start.
But relegation threatened Academy pushed hard for a second equaliser before slipping to their 12th defeat in 14 outings.
