Sunderland leapfrogged Chelsea to take over the Women's Premier League top spot with a 2-0 win over the Blues.
With Chelsea dropping a place, Doncaster Belles climbed to third after beating Birmingham City 3-1.
Leeds Carnegie lost the chance to go jump from sixth to fourth when their match against Bristol was abandoned at half-time with the score at 1-1.
Heavy rain on Sunday also led to the postponement of the games at Arsenal and Watford.
Sunderland 2-0 Chelsea
A week after beating champions Arsenal, the Black Cats produced another fine victory - and the winning margin could have been wider.
Sunderland took the lead after only five minutes, Sarah Danby taking advantage of a defensive mix-up to slide the ball into an empty net from a Jordan Nobbs pass.
Nobbs also started the move that led to Demi Stokes doubling the lead with a 58th-minute shot which flew just inside the far post.
The home side kept continued going for goals and in the closing stages both Nobbs and Natalie Griffiths had shots cleared off the line.
Doncaster Rovers Belles 3-1 Birmingham City
Former Birmingham player Precious Hamilton gave Donny the lead with a tremendous 25-yard drive following a neat one-two with Rachel Williams.
Captain Vicky Exley then put the home side firmly in the driving seat with well-taken penalties in the 48th and 58th minutes.
Birmingham hit back but Dannii Bird's goal 13 minutes from time was too little, too late to prevent a third successive victory for the resurgent Belles.
Leeds Carnegie 1-1 Bristol Academy; match abandoned
A 33rd-minute Katie Daley penalty but Bristol level after Remi Allen's 13th-minute opener for the home side, but the increasingly heavy rain proved the winner.
