A late goal by England Under-21 midfielder Heather Scheuber gave improving Birmingham City a surprise 1-0 win at Chelsea.
Birmingham's third successive victory lifted them to seventh, level on points with both Leeds United and Everton.
On a weekend badly hit by rain, the only other top level game saw Doncaster Rovers Belles beat Blackburn 3-0.
Both League Cup semi-finals - Liverpool v Arsenal and Everton v Watford - were called off because of the weather.
Women's Premier League
Chelsea 0-1 Birmingham City
In a first half played mainly in midfield the closest either side came to scoring was when Birmingham striker Amy McCann's 31st minute shot flashed just wide of the far post.
The second period was far more open, both sides having a goal disallowed and each of them having a penalty appeal turned down.
Scheuber landed the decisive blow a minute from time, collecting a Laura Bassett pass to skilfully guide home a 25 yard lob.
Doncaster Rovers Belles 3-0 Blackburn Rovers
Carla Cantrell put the Belles in front with a close range shot from Veronica Cantoro's 29th-minute cross.
Liz Hansen doubled the home side's advantage eight minutes later, racing on to a long clearance by Clare Uttley to score with a cool finish from 15 yards.
And Hansen set up the victory clincher 16 minutes from time, sending Cantrell clear for the striker to grab her second goal.
