Sanderson treble in Arsenal romp
By Tony Leighton

Women's football

England striker Lianne Sanderson hit a hat-trick as Women's Premier League champions Arsenal hammered Cardiff 9-0.

Emma Whitter scored the only goal as Chelsea beat Leeds United, leaving Arsenal and Everton, who beat Watford 3-0, as the only undefeated clubs.

Doncaster Belles won 3-0 at Liverpool to lift themselves out of the relegation zone at Cardiff's expense.

Bottom club Charlton's game against Birmingham was postponed as the Addicks had only nine fit players available.

Women's Premier League

Arsenal 9-0 Cardiff City

Cardiff were wiped out in the first 20 minutes, Arsenal flying into a four-goal lead through a brace from Sanderson and strikes from Alex Scott and Katie Chapman.

Jayne Ludlow and Faye White increased the lead before Sanderson hit her hat-trick goal five minutes after the break.

Gemma Davison and White, with her second goal of the afternoon, completed the rout as the Gunners maintained their 100% record.

Everton 3-0 Watford

Everton comfortably won the dress rehearsal for next month's Premier League Cup semi-final meeting of the two clubs.

The Toffees took the lead after just eight minutes, midfielder Michelle Evans prodding the ball over the line from a Jody Handley corner.

Striker Natasha Dowie doubled the advantage with a solo run and eight-yard shot five minutes into the second half.

And 10 minutes from time Emily Westwood completed the scoring with a neat finish after collecting a pass from her fellow midfielder Fara Williams.

Leeds United 0-1 Chelsea

Whitter's 36th-minute goal was enough to win a tight contest between clubs who are each aiming for a top-two finish after making major signings in the summer.

Liverpool 0-3 Doncaster Rovers Belles

Three goals in five first-half minutes gave Donny their second League win of the season.

After Liz Hansen had hit the 35th-minute opener, Precious Hamilton and Carla Cantrell quickly added further goals.
