Arsenal romp to win at Charlton
By Tony Leighton

Women's football

England midfielder Katie Chapman hit a hat-trick as Women's Premier League champions Arsenal won 7-0 at bottom club Charlton Athletic.

The comfortable victory lifted Arsenal to third in the table, eight points behind leaders Bristol Academy but with a massive seven games in hand.

Second-placed Watford lost 4-3 at Chelsea, whose win took them up to seventh spot.

Leeds won 3-2 at Doncaster Belles to complete a Yorkshire derby double.

Everton's visit to Blackburn Rovers was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

Charlton Athletic 0-7 Arsenal

The Gunners, who started their season late due to having players on England duty at the World Cup finals in China, continued their relentless rise up the table.

Jayne Ludlow, Lianne Sanderson and Chapman all scored in the opening half-hour.

After the break Ciara Grant added the fourth goal before Sanderson bagged her second of the evening and Chapman completed her hat-trick.

Arsenal have won each of their six League games to date while Charlton have lost all 10 of theirs and are rooted firmly to the foot of the table.

Chelsea 4-3 Watford

Ellen White gave Chelsea an early lead, but by the interval Watford were 2-1 in front through Ashlee Hincks and Helen Lander.

The home side regained the advantage when Casey Stoney and Danielle Buet added goals within three minutes of each other midway through the second half.

Emma Whitter then scored what proved a conclusive fourth goal for Blues. The Hornets hit back again through Lander, but they could not force a draw.

Doncaster Rovers Belles 2-3 Leeds United

Leeds recorded their fourth win in six games to climb up to fifth place in the table.

Belles striker Carla Cantrell cancelled out Nicole Emmanuel's opener, but second half goals by Amanda Barr and Katie Holtham sealed Leeds' victory.

Vicky Exley's last gasp strike came too late to help Donny salvage a point.
