Blackburn striker Katie Anderton reminded the England set-up of her qualities with a hat-trick as Rovers beat Fulham 3-0 in the Premier League.
Anderton has been watched by England coach Hope Powell and her scouts.
But the 23 year-old was overlooked when the 30-player squad was announced for the current run of friendlies against Russia, Scotland and Holland.
In the day's only other League fixture, Birmingham City and Chelsea battled out a dour goalless draw.
WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE
Fulham 0-3 Blackburn Rovers
While the England strikers were ineffective in Sunday's 1-0 victory over the Scots, Anderton was taking her impressive goal tally to 24 in her last 19 appearances.
She set Rovers on the way to a fourth win in five League outings with her seventh-minute opener.
Fulham then held out until the closing stages but Anderton wrapped up victory with goals in the 78th and 80th minutes.
The result lifted Blackburn to fifth in the table, the highest position they have held in what is their first season of top-flight football.
But relegation haunted Fulham were left stranded at the foot of the table with only three points from 15 games.
Birmingham City 0-0 Chelsea
Chelsea moved up one place to sixth after a game virtually devoid of goalscoring opportunities.
The only on-target shot was Birmingham striker Maz Gauntlett's long-range effort three minutes from time.
But goalkeeper Caroline Colley made a fine save to deny the home side a victory and leave them in eighth place.
