Flitcroft aggrieved at defeat
Garry Flitcroft in action against Celtic
Flitcroft was outstanding in the Blackburn midfield
Blackburn captain Garry Flitcroft feels that his side's 1-0 defeat by Celtic did not reflect the quality of the English Premiership club's performance against the Scottish champions.

Flitcroft and Tugay ran the midfield as Graeme Souness' team dominated large spells of the Uefa Cup match on Thursday night.

But Henrik Larsson's late goal gave Celtic a crucial lead to take into the second leg after Blackburn had squandered a number of chances to take the lead themselves.

"I don't think we deserved to lose, because we played some great football at times," said Flitcroft.

"We dominated for most parts of the game and to get beaten is very disappointing.

"We thought the crowd would get them going and they'd pressurise us much more, but they couldn't do that due to the way we played."

Blackburn created plenty of goalscoring opportunities, but a combination of good goalkeeping by Rab Douglas and poor finishing meant a vital away goal did not come.

"We huffed and puffed outside the edge of the box and I think if one goal had gone in, it could have been two or three," added Flitcroft.

"It didn't happen, they scored the important goal and now we have to do our best to turn the tie around.

"A draw would have been a great result, but I think we can turn it round at Ewood."
