York City fans raise money for rivals Kidderminster
York City fans have raised £750 to aid cash-strapped Blue Square Bet Premier rivals Kidderminster Harriers.
Following a suggestion from a City fan, York's board of directors supported a bucket collection, assisted by members of the club's Supporters Trust.
York chairman Jason McGill said: "We have always had a good relationship with Kidderminster at board level.
"Hopefully the donation will help a fellow Football Conference club in their time of need."
Supporters Trust chairman Steve Beck added: "The trust was delighted to assist Kidderminster in their current plight, despite them being rivals for a play-off position this season.
"We were keen to build on our previous good relationship with the club. City fans know only too well that it's very difficult in such difficult financial circumstances."
York's own future was threatened when they went into administration in 2002, before being bought out by the Supporters Trust led by Beck, who went on to serve as club chairman until January 2009.
