Supporters raising money for Kidderminster

Kidderminster Harriers supporters are rallying behind their club as the Blue Square Bet Premier side bid to get themselves out of their financial mess.

Harriers, sixth in the league, need to find £155,000 or face entering a Company Voluntary Arrangement.

Pledges to the Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust website have so far raised over £14,000.

And at one stage on Tuesday, the KHIST website crashed due to the sheer volume of traffic.

The club's board met with the KHIST on Monday, at which the full extent of the cash-strapped Worcestershire club's problems were outlined.

Harriers face a winding-up order over an unpaid tax bill of £16,000 on 23 February.

The club also confirmed that £52,000 is owed to small creditors.

And players and staff were due to be paid a proportion of their outstanding salaries on Monday.

Warwickshire businessman Chris Swan had been in talks about a possible takeover of Harriers but pulled out last Thursday.

If the club cannot find the required funding, the club would be forced into a CVA, allowing them to pay off their debts over an agreed period of time.

The club's board of directors is due to meet legal and financial advisers on Wednesday.
