York City have signed winger Peter Till on a one-year deal.
The 24-year-old spent last season at Walsall in League One having previously had spells with Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United.
Till told BBC Radio York: "I spoke to a number of clubs but this felt right. The gaffer made me feel really wanted so that was a key decision in coming.
"I've been playing league football all my career but it's not a problem stepping out."
He added: "The idea is to step back out to step back up and hopefully we can go one better than the lads did last year and go back up."
Manager Martin Foyle said he was delighted to have secured Till's signature.
"People have been waiting for a wide player to come into York City," he said.
"I tried to sign him when I was at Port Vale and he was at Birmingham. He's very tricky, very positive and hopefully he'll be a crowd favourite."
Foyle was criticised last year for not using the wide players in his squad often enough.
He added: "I had a little problem pre-season with Craig Nelthorpe off the pitch so I made a decision that I thought was best for the club.
"I thought Adam Smith was hot and cold. One minute he looked good and then he wasn't so I made that decision with Adam.
"But I thought my midfield was absolutely fantastic. You've got to realise if we'd got promotion I don't think anyone would be talking about my midfield and wingers and wide players."
Foyle added that his squad for the forthcoming season was now almost complete.
"We're nearly there," he said. "I'll have one or two trialists in with the option of one player to look for."
