World champion Phil Taylor has failed in his bid to win three consecutive tournaments at the World Series of Darts Festival in Las Vegas.

Scotland's Gary Anderson claimed the Las Vegas Players Championship after Taylor had been knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Chris Thompson.

Taylor had won the World Cricket Championship on Saturday and the US Open Players Championship on Sunday.

There are two more tournaments to play before the festival ends on Wednesday.

Thompson, from York, had earlier beaten Stoke-on-Trent's Andy Hamilton in the fourth round.

Adrian Lewis, meanwhile, suffered a 6-0 whitewash to Darin Young in the first round.
