England captain Charlotte Edwards has been delighted with the progress of teenage all-rounder Danielle Wyatt.

The 19-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent is part of the squad that will take on New Zealand in three Twenty20 matches and five one-day internationals.

Edwards told BBC Radio Stoke: "She's had a really successful six months.

"She's done really well since she came into the team, she's a very talented cricketer who I think is going to have a really big future in the game."

Edwards continued: "She's a lively girl, she brings a lot of enthusiasm to the group and she's a popular member of the team, so we hope she continues performing well for us."

Wyatt made her international debut against India in March and was part of the squad that travelled to the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean in May.

She did not play until the final group match, by which time England had already been eliminated from the competition, but won the player of the match award after taking 4-11 from three overs to seal a 56-run victory over South Africa.

The Twenty20 series against New Zealand starts on Tuesday at Chelmsford.
